Javelina

Hip Tex-Mex spot opens second location on the Upper East Side, with a larger bar area and late-night happy hour.

Javelina embraces Tex-Mex cuisine unashamedly, and that's what makes it stand out. This isn't authentic Mexican cooking sourced from the mountains of Oaxaca, but Mexican as it has been re-imagined by Americans over the years. Satisfy your craving for queso, West Texas stacked enchiladas, and puffy tacos.

The drinks menu is just as fun with Shiner Bock on tap and interesting takes on the Margarita; order a Frozen Avocado & Cilantro or Prickly Pear and admire the restaurant mascot, a stuffed wild pig - Javier the Javelina - standing behind the bar.

The Upper East Side location seats up to 70 guests, with 24 in the large bar area, andjust like the original  in Gramercy Park has been designed with inspiration from the city of Marfa, Texas. The design is minimal, with industrial handmade concrete tiling, raw white oak walls and ceilings, and concrete and metal pillars, as well as custom woodwork and art by Texan artists.
