International Center of Photography

Housing some of the greatest photos of our time, the ICP has reopened and is better than ever.

After an 18 month hiatus and a relocation to a new venue, the International Center of Photography (ICP) is back and better than ever. Focusing on visual culture as well as literal photography, they hope a dialogue about how we experience images in our day to day lives and as a culture, through exhibits, classes and education.

This new centre, located at 250 Bowery, is a bright space with mostly glass walls which allows the photographers best friend, sunlight, as much access as possible. The transparency also gives the museum a sense of being a fishbowl where people on the street can catch glimpses of the insides. Beyond just the galleries which are spread across two floors, there is also lecture space, a cafe, bookstore and public space.

With over 154,000 photographs in the Center's gallery and archives, the new location opened with the exhibition Public. Private. Secret. which explores the concept of privacy and how our self-identity is closely connected with public visibility and online accessibility.
