Le Maquis

A modest old-school bistro given new life by a duo of young chef-owners who serve modernised classic French fare.

Co-owners and co-chefs Paul Boudier and Albert Touton are formerly of Parisian hotspots Le Chateaubriand, Le Verre Volé and Aux Deux Amis - and protégés of Inaki Aizpitarte. This trendy neo-bistro (a former punk bar) has a laidback vibe and featues the original Basque red façade, old tile floors, crimson benches and chalkboard menu.

Dine on modestly priced, modernised French cuisine with dishes such as mackerel with cucumbers, cream and horseradish, leeks served with a mustard vinaigrette and crispy bork belly with sesame infused rice drizzled with pork fat and peppers. There's also an unfussy wine list and eclectic playlist.
