The Roof Garden Commission at The MET

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has commissioned leading Mexican artist Héctor Zamora to create a site-specific intervention for the museum’s Cantor Roof Garden.

One of Manhattan’s most enticing outdoor spots offers contemporary art installations, a sunset happy hour, and majestic views of Central Park and the surrounding skyline. This year, Mexican artist Héctor Zamora has been selected to create a site-specific intervention for The Met's Cantor Roof Garden.

Zamora  is known for his often subversive, disruptive actions and public interventions that critique the practices and effects of neo-liberal capitalism and his work has been shown at Venice Biennale, Guggenheim Museum and the Modern Art Museum in São Paulo.

Héctor Zamora, Lattice Detour opens on April 21 and on view through to October 25, 2020. For the Roof Garden, Héctor Zamora invites you to reconsider the panoramic view of the city skyline and the implications of obstruction and permeability within a social space - and set to challenge conventional approaches to architectural spaces.
