Jiji

A fun and vibrant Japanese-Middle Eastern concept from restaurateur Janina Wolkow of Sumosan acclaim.

Tucked away on Esther Anne Place, just off Islington’s bustling Upper Street, Jiji’s is a casual yet refined space - reminiscent of a home kitchen, serving elevated Japanese and Middle Eastern cuisine. Inside, the restaurant is decorated with eclectic artworks and also houses a corner selling homemade sauces, selected condiments and books. There's also a charming terrace for al fresco dining.

Heading up the kitchen is Chef Bubker Belkhit who also worked on the contemporary Japanese concept Sumosan and Jeremy Borrow of The Barbary and The Palomar. Inspired by frequent travels and trips to Israel - the dishes showcase Janina's two favourite cuisines. Highlights from the menu include: roast cauliflower with jalapeno sauce and sweet prawn & crispy quinoa sushi roll.

Signature Dishes

Roast cauliflower with jalapeno sauce, ‘perfect egg’ with truffle polenta, flamed aubergine with tahini jalapeno and a selection of freshly prepared sushi dishes such as slow torched scallop nigiri with creme fraiche & ikura, and sweet prawn & crispy quinoa sushi roll.
