Gitano Island - a boho-chic seasonal restaurant and beach club based on the iconic Gitano restaurant and bar in Tulum, Mexico. The new beach club has opened on Governor’s Island - and features more than 500 tropical plants and palm trees on the premises and 350 tons of imported sand and the space is elevated, by the water, with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline.
The decor includes a black dining tent with a marble bar, twin dining pergolas, and an open-fired kitchen and a giant disco ball alongside lounges and cabanas . The menu features all the Gitano classics - Mezcal cocktails and a modern Mexican menu of dishes such as crab tostada and branzino in banana leaf and Mexican lobster roll.
