In the space of 25 minutes, Macy's will release more than 40,000 fireworks into the New York sky in the name of patriotism. It's a choreographed pyrotechnic spectacle totally worth the subsequent neck strain. Watch them from across Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens, though we recommend heading to Brooklyn Bridge Park, which provides top notch views. Just make sure to secure a spot on the lawn in plenty of time.
Alternatively, head to the Elevated Acre, a man made park hidden in the Financial District up the escalator at 55 Water St. Grand Ferry Park is another option, located in Williamsburg on the waterfront, or join the festivities at South Street Seaport. The all-day event includes drinks, live music, shopping, and a view of the fireworks.
