Noma Australia

One of the world's best restaurants, Noma, will relocate to Sydney for ten weeks from January 2016, to share the best of Australian produce, as seen through the eyes of head chef Rene Redzepi and his team. In a follow-up to Noma’s phenomenally successful residency in Tokyo last year, the Copenhagen restaurant will temporarily close, to open its new waterfront home at Barangaroo on Sydney Harbour.

Pioneering chef Redzepi’s plans for a ten week stint in Sydney also follows the success of fellow international chef Heston Blumenthal’s six-month reconstruction of his British restaurant, Fat Duck, at Melbourne’s Crown Casino. The Noma team will find the best of Australia's produce to design an original menu, focusing on producers who have a respectful and passionate engagement with the sea and the land - so expect native-ingredient-driven cuisine.

Noma Australia will be located in the Anadara building at the Barangaroo precinct, which is set to become Australia's landmark future food and beverage destination. As a vital part of Noma's research in the lead up to the restaurant opening, Rene and his team have already embarked on several Australia-wide visits to meet with producers, farmers and chefs, and explore the diverse landscape and produce. Also rumoured is that Redzepi and team will retain a permanent presence in Australia, at least in some form - perhaps with an outpost of Noma's innovatiev Nordic Food Lab.

Noma Australia will launch in January 2016 and will open for lunch and dinner five days per week over the 10-week period. Bookings for the restaurant will open later this year, for further details about registering interest and bookings can be found at the dedicated website.
