World's Longest Slide

The world’s longest and tallest tunnel helter-skelter at the ArcelorMittal Orbit...

The ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower, designed (by Turner-prize winning artist Anish Kapoor) to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics has been transformed into the world's longest and tallest tunnel slide. The striking piece of public art is the UK's tallest sculpture, with the slide starting at 80 metres high above the ground, before spiralling around the tower five times before a final 50 metre route down to the ground.

In the 40-second trip, U circle around the ArcelorMittal Orbit 12 times weaving your way through the famous loops and curves of the iconic structure, including a tight corkscrew section names the ‘bettfeder’ – after the German word for ‘bedspring’ – and ends with a straight run back down. Expect to experience speeds of up to 15 miles per hour.

The slide is a unique collaboration between two of the world’s leading artists - Belgian artist Carsten Höller and Sir Anish Kapoor and a major new art installation for London. Tickets for the ArcelorMittal Orbit and The Slide cost £15 for adults, £10 for children and £46 for a family of four.
