Miscelanea NY

Miscelanea became a local East Village gem as soon as it opened. Founder Guillaume Guevara’s reluctance to add another taco-slinging Mexican spot to the city led him to create this well-curated, artisanal take on the corner bodega.

The quaint Mexican general store is steeped in nostalgia for the homeland and packed to the brim with imported goods like De la Rosa Mazapan candies, tortillas, salsas, and fragrant house-made aguas frescas, amongst other essentials from molcajetes to Mayan clay.

The counter, located toward the rear, is where to pick up the warm, crispy tortas made fresh to-go, Oaxacan cheese sold by the pound, and fresh doughnuts from Brooklyn’s own ‘Dough’. They’re also rumored to have the best chilaquiles in New York.
