Our Guide to Thanksgiving in New York

Stuck in the city for Thanksgiving? Well, get prepared pilgrims, for some serious eating, drinking, and much-needed R&R is about to commence. Happy Holidays!

Thanksgiving Eve

The Tiki Disco parties are legendary, and none more so than the night before a national holiday. Held at Sugar Hill Disco & Restaurant, general admission includes a plate of fried chicken and two sides, followed by a night of disco dancing.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to up the swank factor, head to exclusive nightclub 1OAK, which is hosting an extravagant Thanksgiving Eve bash with an open bar and party tunes.

Thanksgiving Day

At least once in your lifetime you need to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Before you settle in for the game, hit up this annual pageant of flotillas, marching bands, giant balloons, whooping cheerleaders, Broadway characters, and all other manner of Americana in all its glory.

If you want to enjoy the parade without the crowds try the Thanksgiving Day Parade Brunch at the Wayfarer in the Quin Hotel. Right on the parade route, you can enjoy the  buffet and open cocktail bar, while popping out to the private roped off section on the street to watch the madness pass by.

When it comes to dinner, avoid the stress while still hosting an extravagant feast, and give famous New York deli Zabar’s a call (before November 23rd), and they’ll deliver the full Thanksgiving package from turkey to cheesecake for up to six people - direct to your door. Otherwise, check out our list of the top restaurants offering a special Thanksgiving Day dinner.

Feeling Charitable?

On Tuesday November 24th, join Feeding NYC to help prepare, package and deliver holiday feasts to more than 35,000 New York City families in need. Either take on a packaging shift or, if you're short on time, donate and for just $35 they will provide an entire Thanksgiving dinner in your name.
