Mast Brothers Chocolate Factory To Close

Los Angeles' chocolate factory is set to close as hipster chocolatiers the Mast Brothers retreat to Brooklyn.

The move comes less than a year after opening the 6,000 sq ft factory in the Arts District, where the Mast Brothers were showcasing every aspect of their chocolate making process from bean to bar.

The company, which is also closing its London outpost, is moving all operations to its new 65,000 sq ft facility in Brooklyn's Navy Yard.

Founded in 2007 by Rick and Michael Mast, Mast chocolate is known for its obsessive attention to detail and craftsmanship, and eclectic flavors like goat milk, maple, smoke and olive oil. However, the company came under fire, when a Dallas-based blogger claimed (with evidence) that the company melted down industrial chocolate in its early days while passing it off as made-from-scratch.
