My Perfect Day - Charlie McCorry

Charlie McCorry, founder of Black Label & Perfect 10, boutique personal styling services (offering a wide range of beauty and wellness services), shares with U her favourite tips and hangouts, giving U an insight into her 'Perfect Day'.

How do you start your day?

I'm a natural early riser, so no alarm needed for me. I’m usually awake by 5.30am, kettle on. I then head straight to the bathroom and get ready for the day. Then I drink my hot water & lemon while checking over all the late night bookings and email trails so I can be fully up to date with all that’s gone on through the night, as we are a 24 hour company. I'll have a nice leisurely walk into the office, its around a 30min walk, there is something about walking in London in the early morning that I find exhilarating.

Leisurely lunch go to?

I'm not the best at having scheduled meal times to be honest. I am normally a 'stop and grab when the opportunity arrises'. By 11am I’m normally starving (ok 9am), so in between meetings I love to go into NAC, which is in Mayfair. Their poached eggs and avocado on toast is to die for. If there is a spare table on the terrace during the summer this is the perfect place to go.

Favourite way to pass the time in London?

I love to cycle and Battersea Park, it is my sanctuary.

Favourite London landmark, and why?

Big Ben. It is just so iconic. I spent quite a bit of time in St Thomas's Hospital a few years back and my room looked out on to the river and Big Ben. During sunrise and sunset it just looked so beautiful and I never got bored of looking at it.

Tipple of choice and favourite cocktail hangout?

It has to be a Gin & Tonic. One of the best bars I have been in London has to be The London Gin Club in Soho. They serve over 130 varieties of gin and serve them in great big goblets, the only way to drink gin. If you are a lover of the spirit, they do a great tasting menu where they serve four or eight different gins for you to try. There's a fab atmosphere in there and the cocktails are great too.

Favourite dining destinations, and why?

Toms Kitchen in Chelsea has great modern british comfort food. I love to come here on a Tuesday evening as they have a live jazz band playing. Then on a Wednesday, I like to pick up my Great Nan and take her for Arments Pie & Mash. She is hitting 90 next year and loves what she loves. I was brought up on this dish. The traditional pie, mash & liquor & jellied eels. Not the most glam of restaurants, but it's a real personal favourite of mine.

Final stop for a nightcap, and why?

Pratts & Payne in Streatham, is a lovely vintage pub and it's very close to home.

Rest hangover remedy?

It has to be pancakes at Christopher's in Covent Garden. Best pancakes in London. Fact!!

Where next on your travels?

My very close friends are getting married this year in Ileitis in Mallorca, so we are off there in September. With my work, I could be anywhere next week to be honest. Our clients often book extremely last minute. A couple of weeks ago, I had five hours notice before having to get on a plane.
