350 W 40th

Rooftop party-place, Monarch, is getting a couple siblings with more rooftop drinks and a ground floor restaurant.

The Monarch on West 35th has long been known as a place for rising above all the city life and soaking in that bit of sky-high atmosphere while downing well-made drinks using craft spirits and looking out on that 18th story view. Ric Addison, the man with a plan behind it all, is not one to just rest on his laurels and is opening two new venues in the upcoming months.

Coming in at 350 West 40th, the ground floor is taken up with an all-day brasserie called Magnolia Restaurant, which serves serve American chow with a focus on seasonal ingredients. Designed by Natalia Todorova of Gene Kaufman Architects, the space is rustic and industrial with dark wood, Camel-brown leather, plum and white linens giving it a chic yet natural feeling. In addition to the dining room. the restaurant also features a cosy outdoor space which will be available in nicer weather.

When you've seen the sky, it's understandably a hard thing to walk away from, so it no surprise that Addison offers a new rooftop lounge which is a year-round space where guests can escape and watch the world turn.
