Rising like a phoenix from the ashes after its Dubai Mall outing closed down, Katsuya by Starck version 2.0 has come armed with a winning formula. First off, its luxury location by the hotel's turtle lagoon is ideal, and also means this time round it's a licensed venue. The sleek interiors ooze sophistication with Phillipe Starck's signature clean, white colours combined with luxe marble and wood, and subtle nods to Japan.
The Japanese-American menu is skilfully served up from four master kitchens - the Sushi Kitchen with its own sushi bar area, the Hot Kitchen, the Robata Grill, and the Liquid Kitchen (basically, the bar). Classic cocktails and a sake selection make up the beverage mix.
For those who can brave the temperatures (or wait until after summer) there is an outdoor section too.
