Prince & Patron

More than 100 artworks selected personally by The Prince of Wales are on show as part of the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace in honour of His Royal Highness’s 70th birthday.

The Prince has enjoyed a life-long passion for art, inspired by the treasures in the Royal Collection. In the display, The Prince's favourite art works are shown alongside works created by young artists supported by three charities which he has founded and is patron of: The Royal Drawing School, The Prince's Foundation School of Traditional Arts and Turquoise Mountain.

Highlights from the Royal Collection include Napoleon Bonaparte’s silk-embroidered cloak, chosen for its fascinating history, and Johan Joseph Zoffany’s painting The Tribuna of the Uffizi. These are complemented by pieces from the Prince’s personal collection of art. ‘Prince and Patron’ is part of a visit to the Summer Opening of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace, open from 21 July to 30 September.
