Song Qi

A modern, fine dining Chinese restaurant - actually the only gourmet Chinese restaurant along the on the Côte d’Azur.

Spearheaded by Monagesque entrepreneur Riccardo Giraudi and famed London restaurateur Alan Yau (behind Hakkasan and Yauatcha), the Song Qi restaurant was conceived by Monaco-based design duo Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet - the pair behind the Beefbar chain. The sleek and contemporary interiors have been inspired by Shanghai's 1930s golden age - with art deco detailing, sumptuous olive-green banquettes and a striking geometric pattern flooring - combined with sophisticated fabrics and furniture.

Yau’s menu at Song Qi offers dishes to share, as is customary in China - expect plenty of traditional Asian flavours using Mediterranean products. The sophistication, of the design, is mirrored by the menu offering such fare as Cantonese lobster with Hong Kong noodles and stir-fried steak with wild ginger. The name, evokes not only the famous Chinese dynasty but also refers to the philosophical meaning of ’qi’, a notion that translates as ’breath’, ’spirituality’ and ’power’.
