Best Places to Celebrate Chinese New Year

2019 marks the Chinese Year of the Pig so for the upcoming Chinese New Year Urbanologie has brought you the best places to celebrate in style.

Hakkasan

Executive Head Chef, Tong Chee Hwee, heads up the Hakkasan kitchens, and his dedication to Chinese cuisine has achieved numerous awards, including multiple Michelin stars at Hakkasan locations across the world. Priding themselves on using traditional techniques and fresh local ingredients to ensure their contemporary dishes retain the essence of conventional Cantonese cuisine. In celebration of Chinese New Year, Hakkasan (pictured - now located at Atlantis, The Palm) has created a limited-edition signature menu (available from January 28 to February 24) created especially to mark the occasion with a variety of Chinese favourites including peking duck and wok-fried lobster.  The menu is priced at AED 498 and includes a welcome drink.

Ba Restaurant & Lounge

Located at Fairmont The Palm, Ba Restaurant & Lounge is an old favourite offering a wide range of traditional Chinese dishes and modern Asian cuisine. Ba means eight in Mandarin, which is a Chinese lucky number, and Ba Restaurant and Lounge is putting on a speciality Chinese menu with tea pairing from February 4-11. This includes the likes of Wagyu beef tartare with yuzu and togarashi and crispy duck bun with kimchi for starters, while black pepper beef and sweet and sour prawns with pineapple are among the main course options. Priced at AED 288 per person.

Mazina

The all-day dining restaurant in Dubai Marina at the Address Downtown, offers a contemporary reflection of global cuisine. This Chinese New Year feast on traditional favourites at their Chinese themed buffet (from February 5), such as dumplings, Peking duck and other specialities influenced by Chinese style of cooking. This unique dining experience, complemented by red and gold themed décor, gives you the opportunity to enjoy authentic flavours. Priced at AED 179 per person. There’s also the option of a brunch on February 8 that comes in at AED 325 per person including soft drinks or AED 450 with house beverages.
