An Enquiring Mind: Manolo Blahník at the Wallace Collection

The exhibition features a personally selected edit of shoe designs from Blahník’s private archives set amongst the masterpieces of the Wallace Collection.

The exhibition celebrates the work of the world's most famous shoe designer set against the backdrop of the stunning 18th-century rooms of the museum at Hertford House, and the masterpieces within them.

This exciting venture - featuring an enchanting edit of shoe designs from Blahnik’s private archives - juxtaposes an icon from the world of contemporary fashion with Wallace’s outstanding collection, which has been an inspiration to artists since it opened to the public in 1900.

Throughout ten rooms, 160 pairs of shoes are displayed, with each space exploring a particular theme associated with Blahnik’s work, from such varied influences as the 18th-century Rococo style to his own personal interpretation of Englishness. The shoes stand alongside paintings, sculptures and historic furniture to highlight Blahnik's wide inspirations.
