LaLou’s market-driven Italian-leaning menu comes from rising star Ashley Rath, formerly behind Manhattan’s highly-rated The Grill. The mix-and-match menu features smaller dishes such as fried green olives and mortadella with citrus aioli, while larger options include spaghetti with chickpea and black pepper, and roast chicken for two - all designed to complement the 150+ bottles and by-the-glass wine options - focusing on natural, small batch and biodynamic wines.
The simple yet elegant space - by Brooklyn-based firm American Construction League (Oomoco and Pheasant) - features whitewashed brick walls, blonde wood tables, and rush bar stools at the concrete bar. There’s an additional 20 seats in the pleasant backyard garden.
