Chikarashi Isso

A modern, minimalist dining room sets the scene for seasonal kappo-style cuisine...

Isso brings a contemporary perspective to the traditions of Japanese kappo cuisine - an elevated yet relaxed and intimate style of dining compared to kaiseki - with a distinct focus on seasonality, from the team behind fast-casual poke hit Chikarashi which operates at the space during the day. Maplewood partitions then conceal this portion of the restaurant at night.

The eclectic menu - served in the minimalist dining room - of composed plates (think wok lobster and uni risotto), along with yakitori, chirashi, noodles and tempura, has been developed by Chikarashi Executive Chef and Neta veteran Michael Jong Lim and designed to be served a la carte or as a "chef's choice" tasting typical of kappo-style cuisine.

Ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible, including from chef Lim's family farm in Connecticut, while condiments ranging from soy sauce and miso paste to kimchi and gochujang are made by Lim himself.
