My Perfect Day - Marissa Hermer

The American entrepreneur, restauranteur and television personality shares with U her 'Perfect Day' in and around Los Angeles.

Marissa is co-founder of Cadogan Hospitality Collective - with her husband Matt Hermer - which owns and operates The Draycott restaurant in The Pacific Palisades and Olivetta in West Hollywood. Marissa and Matt owned and operated London favorites Boujis nightclub, Eclipse bars, and Bumpkin restaurants.

How do you start your day?

The alarm goes off at 6.30am and with dressing, feeding and getting three tots off to school, the next hour is a fire drill of juicing celery juice (not sure if this works but I do it anyway), guzzling coffee, packing lunches and tying shoes.

Leisurely lunch places go to?

When we have friends in town visiting, Matt and I love taking them to Blue Plate Oysterette for a quintessential oceanside dining experience, The Albright on the Santa Monica Pier, or of course, The Draycott for our weekend brunch and where we can wander around Palisades Village.

Favourite way to pass the time in Los Angeles

We love taking family hikes in Mandeville Canyon where our dogs can run off the leash - or a walk up to Inspiration Point in Will Rogers. We also love riding our bikes from Santa Monica to Venice, grabbing a bite at Gjusta for lunch.

Favourite Los Angeles landmarks, and why?

A morning visit to The Broad downtown is a great way for our kids to stretch their legs and soak up some culture, followed by lunch at our favorite Otium. We also love visiting Noah’s Arc at Skirball and taking in the views at The Getty museum.

Tipple of choice and favourite cocktail hangouts?

Our favorites of course are the Watermelon Picantes at The Draycott, which are our riff on the famous Watermelon martinis at our Walton Street Eclipse Bar, and Mel at Olivetta makes the perfect Dirty Martini with blue cheese olives. When we step out of our own spots, we escape to San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood for afternoon rose wine and Soho House Malibu for margaritas for ocean sunsets.

Favourite dining destinations, and why?

The Los Angeles foodie scene is exploding - it is such a delight to be a part of it all. We love Birdie G’s and Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Pizzana makes the best gluten-free pizza, Jon & Vinny’s for family suppers with the kids, and Sushi Park for the best sushi in LA.

Final stop for a nightcap, and why?

When we are in West Hollywood, it is always Olivetta as we love to bump into our friends and we are open until 2am, and when we are in the Palisades, The Golden Bull is always a good time.

Rest hangover remedy?

Avoid the hangover and drink a LOT of water between cocktails the night before - and before bedtime, it is coconut water which seems to help. That said, nothing is better than a Gjusta breakfast sandwich.
