My Perfect Day - James Provencher

Managing Partner at Barry's Miami shares with U his 'Perfect Day' in The Magic City.

How do you start your day?

I am usually an early riser. I always begin my day with a cup of coffee, review my emails for anything pressing, and then go straight to Barry’s for a workout.

Leisurely lunch places go to?

I love Pura Vida in the Design District, Love Life Cafe, and St Roch Market.

Favourite way to pass the time in Miami?

Barry’s. Brunch. Boat. Beach...and I love to entertain and host dinners at home.

Favourite Miami landmarks, and why?

Stiltsville (not the restaurant) and Nixon Sandbar - it is always so beautiful to go out on the boat and see these houses in the middle of the ocean. Shark Valley - a gorgeous 15 mile bike loop in the Everglades just outside the city - the perfect way to experience nature in Miami. South Pointe Park - they have a gorgeous walkway along the water...it is the  perfect way to end a weekend and watch all the cruise ships depart.

Tipple of choice and favourite cocktail hangouts?

I love red wine, specifically a bold cabernet. As for cocktails, I love a good tequila with a splash of soda water and pineapple on a warm day.

Favourite Miami dining destinations, and why?

Thatch - one of the best new plant-based restaurants with a diverse menu. Planta - another wonderful high-end plant-based restaurant. Chef Benjamin Goldman really knocks it out of the park. Even the biggest carnivores end up falling in love with his creations. Mandolin - it's such a Miami staple with the most beautiful ambiance and wonderful staff. My favourite is hidden gem is Zaika - best Indian food in South Florida located in a stripmall in North Miami. Always so good!

Best hangover remedy?

Sweat it out at Barry’s. No better way...followed by an IV drop with Dr. Ivan Rusilko in Sunset Harbour.

James is entrepreneur, fitness enthusiast, animal rescue advocate and plant-based food & wine lover. Currently one of the Managing Partners at Barry's Miami, a franchise of the global fitness brand having started as a consumer, taking classes with the original Barry Jay in West Hollywood.
