The 1980s are back! At the Line Hotel in Koreatown, Break Room 86 is the new themed nightclub from the Houston brothers, which features their clever ode to '80s style. From the cassette tapes, vintage speakers and TVs lining the wall to an inspired soundtrack, Break Room 86 is a spirited time warp.
Innovative design touches start at the door: the entrance is through a loading dock and down a long corridor. The door is an old school vending machine that swivels to reveal the hidden club. There’s room for live performances and guest DJs in the cleverly decorated space located within the recently renovated Line hotel, now a full-on entertainment and dining destination. Subway tiles line the ceiling and walls and elevated VIP seating takes in the action throughout the club.
Cocktails take their cues from the neon-hued decade. Look for garish colors and fruit-forward concoctions and several drinks owe their inspiration to celebrities of the era. A bar snack menu is available too. House made wine coolers are intriguing but most stick to potent cocktails. Wear your dancing shoes! The private karaoke suites must be reserved in advance; cost is $1,000/£673 for the entire night and includes bottle service (2 bottles). Rooms can hold from 10 to 15 people.
