Il Giardino at The Berkeley

La dolce vita comes to The Berkeley as The Garden is transformed once again, this season into the Italian-inspired Il Giardino.

Celebrating Italian cooking and cuisine, this intimate and informal alfresco restaurant is covered with a canopy of foliage and lined with fragrant herb plants and olive trees. While candles flicker and festoon lights twinkle, dine on a relaxed menu accompanied by a list of Mediterranean wines and Italian-inspired aperitivos.

Small plates include assorted bruschetta, burratina and fritto misto. Rigatoncini cacio e pepe and tagliolini with Bronte pistachio pesto are the standout pasta dishes. Caponata gives a nod to Sicily, served with roasted wild seabass and there's a staple of Tuscan cooking with Fiorentina steak. For dolce, think apricot crostata with amaretto ice cream and tiramisu served alongside gelato cones of Amalfi lemon and pastel peach sorbets.

Open for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday.
