Annabel's

New Annabel's is open for business.

The re-location of the legendary Annabel's is finally here.

Annabel's was originally founded in 1963 (beneath the Clermont Club) by the doyen and tastemaker Mark Birley, and named after his wife Lady Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart, who would later marry Sir James Goldsmith. The Mayfair institution and celebrity hangout was sold to restaurateur tycoon Richard Caring and now he has moved the venue just two doors down the street. The new elegant premises (see image) - in a Georgian townhouse also houses new lounge areas, bars, dining and meeting rooms and an outdoor restaurant terrace (with a retractable roof). In addition, there is also to be a gym and health club - including fitness studios and treatment rooms.

All the fixtures and fittings including the dance floor and array of nude artworks can be found in the “New Annabel’s” even the striped canopy at the club’s entrance has been relocated from 44 to 46 Berkeley Square.

Mark's son Robin Birley has recently expanded his nearby 5 Hertford Street club - with the addition of a stunning new roof terrace, events space and additional dining and lounge areas. Also, recently we have heard murmurings of a new 8-storey Mayfair club (set to rival The Arts Club), to open in a building adjacent to The Westbury Hotel on Mayfair's Conduit Street (which formerly housed Brasserie Chavot and Club 41) - more news to follow.
