Top chefs from around the globe gathered in Melbourne, Australia, for the grand reveal of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017. Taking the coveted title spot for 2017 is Eleven Madison Park, New York. Last year’s top restaurant, Osteria Francescana, Modena, Italy, was downgraded to second place and down one spot from 2016, is Spain's El Celler De Can Roca in Girona coming third.
London saw no new entries in the list. The Ledbury, which was at 14 last year, dropped down to 27 this time round, while Heston Blumenthal’s Knightsbridge restaurant 'Dinner' rose in the rankings nine places from 45 to 36 to complete the capital’s line-up and The Clove Club retained its position at 26. Further down the rankings, three more notable London restaurants made the previously announced top 100 — Lyle’s in Shoreditch at 54 (up from 65 place), Fergus Henderson’s St John at 91, and Chiswick’s Hedone at 98 (down from 61).
