Where To Dine In Paris

With several of Paris' most celebrated chefs (including Inaki Aizpitarte of Le Chateaubriand etc) and restauranteurs (including those behind the Taillevent) opening new London outposts, we set out to discover the best newly opened dining destinations in one of the most exciting and compelling food cities in the world...

Clover

Clover is Michelin-starred chef Jean-François Piège's (of Thoumieux acclaim and his eponymous two-Michelin starred restaurant) first entirely independent venture. It's a ten-table neighbourhood restaurant he opened (last December) in Paris’s Saint-Germain-des-Prés, which has quickly become one of the hottest spots in town. The intimate space has been designed by hip Parisian designer Charlotte Biltgen, who's created a fitting palette-cleansing (and convivial) setting to appreciate the contemporary French “cuisine instinctif” menu of ever-changing healthy and delicious dishes.

L’Adjugé

L’Adjugé is a new “bar-studio” located in the heart of l’Hôtel Drouot. This daytime-only, 40-cover restaurant is run by Amandine Chaignot (also the chef at the Rosewood hotel in London), dishing-up a simple, laid-back menu based on seasonal produce. Chaignot is joined by acclaimed sommelier Jérôme Moreau, formerly of the Crillon, who has created an interesting and well thought out wine list to accompany the modern dishes.

La Monnaie de Paris

Guy Savoy’s new flagship restaurant has been in the making since 2009 and only just recently opened. Housed in the remodelled neoclassical museum & cultural space, La Monnaie de Paris (the French Mint), has a series of dining rooms featuring breathtaking views of the Seine and the Louvre. It's a fitting setting for the 3 Michelin-starred chef’s signature cuisine of redefined classics accompanied by stellar wines. The rue Troyon location has been turned into a chic little seafood restaurant called Etoile sur Mer, and next year he will open the brasserie Metal Café in the interior courtyard at the Monnaie.

Le Gabriel

The new restaurant in the recently opened La Réserve hotel, Le Gabriel, is attracting considerable (and fashionable) attention. The chef is Jérôme Banctel, (a protégé of Alain Senderens and Bernard Pacaud) who serves up light, seasonal cooking inflected with Japanese flavours and grounded in classical French technique. The design of the lavish and dramatic room (as with the hotel) was entrusted to legendary designer Jacques Garcia, who ensured that it suited its address in the heart of Paris on the Champs Elysées.
