Latest News on Soho Farmhouse

Farm living meets luxury in this exciting new development from Soho House Group.

Soho House Group is continuing their exhilarating expansion around the world with new openings in Chicago and Istanbul and planned openings in Mumbai, and Barcelona as well as rumoured new outposts in London (including the former Midland Bank Building in the City of London) – and recently announced the development of a new Oxfordshire House and Hotel.

Soho Farmhouse is a new-build hotel (on the site of a current farm) set in 93-acres of countryside near Great Tew, in Oxfordshire (5 miles from Chipping Norton and 20 miles north of Oxford). According to the plans and recent reports the development will consist of 30 "timber cabins” for guests (spread around lakes), four-bedroom cottage and a seven-bedroom farmhouse, a gym and Cowshed Spa, two yoga and pilates studios, and two pools. In addition there will be a bar, restaurant, farm shop, tennis courts, and a south-facing boathouse pool area, which will feature an indoor-outdoor infinity pool set within a lake (pictured) and an-indoor cinema (in the Electric Barn).

Andy Cook, former head chef at the Savoy Grill, has been appointed executive chef (and will work with consultant chef Tom Aikens) and will oversee the Main Barn (serving casual-style comfort food), Boat House (for grilled meat and fish dishes from a wood-fired oven), Farm Deli (provide complete dishes, such as pies and lasagnes, for guests to enjoy in their cabins) and Farm Shack (serving hearty stews, alongside slow roasted lamb and racks of ribs cooked in an outdoor wood oven). The emphasis will be on serving fresh, seasonal produce, much of which will be grown on the estate or sourced from the local area.

Alongside room service delivering dishes to the cabins from the various restaurants, there will be two 1950s-style milk floats converted into ‘greasy spoon floats’, which will cook the likes of egg and bacon sandwiches and grilled kippers to order. The milk floats will also be used as a pop-up food offering around the farm, serving fish and chips by the football pitch or burgers by the tennis courts. Meanwhile, two other mobile milk float bars will serve cocktails around the estate.

The original Soho House opened in 1995 as a private members’ club for the film, media and creative industries. It has since expanded, and as well as operating Babington House in Somerset, owns Houses and Clubs (as well as restaurants, cinemas and spas) as far afield as Miami, West Hollywood and Toronto.
