Dubai's first 360-degree cinema has opened at trendy Jumeirah leisure district BoxPark.
But before film fanatics get too excited, this is no ordinary movie theatre. It is, in fact, an educational cinema experience. Instead of showing the latest blockbusters (some of which can be seen in 4D at Novo Cinemas in Dubai Festival City), The Dome Box exhibits animated short films focusing on topics like nature, the environment and science lasting between 10 and 30 minutes.
What is lacks in Hollywood names it makes up for in striking 360-degree visuals and special effects. A unique family-friendly experience, it's particularly useful for keeping the little ones entertained during shopping trips to BoxPark.
