The threesome, behind some of the city’s most popular restaurants including Parm, Torrisi, ZZ’s Clam Bar and the new Dirty French, have opened the Renzo Piano-designed venue – a glass box at the southern end of the old elevated railway line, now a park and major tourist attraction.
In contrast to the carb-heavy richness of the menus at their pasta restaurant Carbone, and their tasting-menu-only Torrisi, this venue will feature light and healthy, coastal Italian fare. Dishes include whole grilled porgy with grapefruit giardiniera, house-cured anchovies, zucchini carpaccio, and lobster Catalan.
The team have focused on seafood after researching the area around the venue, which was once the coastline of Manhattan, before landfill expansion. Along with 100 seats indoors, there are 50 seats outside, and a drinks menu that matches the coastal theme.
