Best Meeting Places in London

Managing Director of the Milken Institute in Europe and Urbanologist, James Morgon shares with U his favourite meeting places in London...

As Managing Director of the Milken Institute in Europe, Urbanologie member James Morgon spends his week back to back in business meetings. ‘I think sometimes it is helpful to meet people outside their normal place of work, it helps spark a cascade of conversations and ideas’ James says. ‘Depending on the type of meeting and the time of day, London offers an incredible range of immersive locations that can help you get the creativity flowing, and move your relationship with business associates to the next level’.

1. Breakfast Meeting– The Wolseley, Piccadilly.

Any property owned and operated by Titan Restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King will not let you down as a venue to host an important meeting. The breakfast at the Wolseley is legendary, especially the pancakes. If the noise of negotiations conducted over coffee and croissants reverberating around the large dining room is not your cup of tea, ask to book the private room to enjoy the experience discretely.

2. Business Lunch – Amaranto restaurant, Four Seasons Hotel, Mayfair.

A great menu, a large dining room with big tables and a summer patio in the heart of Mayfair makes Amaranto one of my favorite places to go for a Business Lunch. I particularly like the fact that the restaurant offers such a wide range of superb wines by the glass, and the complementary Italian menu is delicious, making it an ideal spot for any important lunch.

3. Afternoon Business Meeting – 12 Hay Hill, Mayfair.

12 Hay Hill is a stylish members club that offers a wide range of environments in which to conduct a productive business meeting. The funky bar, the cool Shaun Rankin restaurant, or the colourful collaborative 4th floor workspace (which hosts a revolving art gallery) are all well-planned areas and each floor also offers a range of private meeting rooms should you wish to talk without the risk of being overheard.

4. Evening Business Meeting – Galvin at Windows, Park Lane Hilton.

Whilst no one can deny the sights from The Shard are spectacular, Galvin at Windows is a little closer to home and offers incomparable and memorable views over our beautiful city. The 28th floor bar has not changed in the 15 years I have frequented it, ‘if it aint broke don’t fix it’ seems to be the most fitting testament to this spot. Best enjoyed after dark in my opinion.

5. Dinner Meetings – Novikov, Mayfair.

Arkady Novikov has made his fortune creating world class restaurants and the place he chooses to name after himself in Berkley Street, Mayfair, is no exception. One of London’s largest restaurants is split into two themes – a classy Italian on the lower ground, and an excellent Asian fusion on the upper ground. There is a lively atmosphere in both dining rooms, and the customer service is second to none making it a great choice for a business meeting.
