The enormous success of the sprawling 50,000 square foot space in the Flatiron District – home to delicatessen counters, a bakery, fresh pasta counters, ice cream and coffee bars, wine and charcuterie bars, fish, meat and pasta restaurants and a rooftop bar and restaurant – has already led to a second store in Chicago. And in August 11th 2016, downtown New York will have its own 45,000 square foot gourmet space too.
The iconic Es of the emporium have already been spotted in windows at the new site, which is close to Le District, the new multi-million-dollar French-style market that opened earlier this year at Brookfield Place.
Le District will have four mini-districts, including a café, seafood and charcuterie sections and two sit down restaurants, all managed by Barcelona-born chef Jordi Valles, who worked with Ferrán Adria (of El Bulli) before cooking at a number of Ritz-Carlton restaurants.
