Aman London

Aman Resorts’ to open an urban resort hotel in London's Mayfair.

Though known for their remote locations, Aman Resorts (which has a presence in 20 countries) have moved into the urban landscape with their first "city retreats" - with Aman Venice (a regal 16th-century palazzo hotel) and Aman Tokyo (perched on levels 33 to 38 of the recently built Otemachi Tower)- pictured, the first to be opened in city locations and uncompromisingly urban in design and style. As part of an ambitious expansion plan, by new owner - the billionaire Russian construction magnate Vladislav Doronin, new urban developments are being planned for London, New York, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

In a recent interview (for BA High Life) Aman Resorts, CEO Olivier Jolivet mentioned that the London Aman Resort is to be located near their swish Mayfair offices. Due to some guesswork and insider knowledge we expect that Aman London is to be located at 23 Hanover Square - currently a Grade A, high-end service office development. Expect a 2017 / 2018 opening. We could be wrong but we will ensure to update U accordingly.

Aman, named after the Sanskrit word for “peace”, was founded in Phuket in 1988 and has built its name by providing discreet (and often remote) hideaways and has played host to some of the world's richest and most famous figures. By next spring, there are set to be 30 Aman hotels in 21 countries. The group already has a presence in London with the Aman spa - the first Aman branded facility built outside one of the company's hotels - this luxurious spa lies in the heart of Mayfair beneath the Edwardian lobby of London's Connaught Hotel.
