Hidden away in plain sight, the Bar Marmont sits in the shadow of the famed Chateau Marmont hotel. A series of intimate rooms (there’s a completely private back patio and dining room for small groups), the décor is Old World charm meets a hint of Oriental flair, as seen in the Moroccan tile flooring and other deft touches.
Menus are from Dean Yasharian, the former chef de cuisine of London's Bar Boulud, who returned to his home city of LA last year. Ranging from small bites like crab & avocado toast to shared platters of oysters, charcuterie or cheese to delicious main courses - don't miss the hhouse burger - the food offers something for everyone.
Drinks here are top shelf too and the bartenders have notable skill.
Bar Marmont has outlasted many other nightspots on the Sunset Strip, perhaps due to its enviable location, low-key but fabulous scene and adherence to owner Andre Balazs’ exacting hospitality standards. (He also owns the Chateau, the Standard Hotels and Chiltern Firehouse in London).
