Le Botaniste is a bit of a departure for the owner of the global chain Le Pain Quotidien. Ditching the butter and ham of the french style bakery for large format "plant-based" bowls of tasty health, they've transformed the farmhouse feel of the locations previous incarnation for a slightly more apothecary-esque french bistro vibe, complete with checkered floors and jar lined walls.
The wine list is predominantly biodynamic and natural, and staff are super happy to guide you through if this is new territory. Although they're decked out in lab coats, furthering the medicinal feel, this place is far from clinical. The big salads are dubbed "prescriptions" and have a specific format of protein, starch, a side or sauce that are all organic and made to help most you through a day. Settle into one of the communal tables and feel comfortable with the knowledge that all waste is either recycled or composted.
Wine-swilling Veggies
