La Folie Douce, Val d’Isere, France.
One of the most infamous on-the-mountain après ski spots in Europe, La Folie Douce is French for “soft party”, referring to the fact that it starts at 3pm and ends by 6pm - situated at the top of the La Daille gondola. "The infamous Folie Douce has taken over après Ski in the Alps. They are now in Meribel, Megeve, Alpe d’huez, Val Thorens… plus in Cannes through the Summer. Kelly, the star of the show in the original venue in Val d’Isere becomes more and more bizarre each year. The shows have turned from fun made up dancing to professional cabaret shows. For guaranteed boisterous, loud and saxophone fuelled fun any Folie is worth a visit."
Krazy Kanguruh, St Anton, Austria.
Austria’s most celebrated après-ski bar, the “KK” has become infamous for its scenes of vibrant afternoon bacchanali. The bar first opened its doors to hard-partying skiers in 1965 and its been swinging ever since. Today, the place is owned by two-time World Slalom Champion Mario Matt. "The truly original après ski bar. A wooden hut on the edge of the slope with shots on skis on the bar… topless dancing and the second largest annual amount of beer drunk in Austria (across only 6 months!). No Champagne here, just traditional old school Après at its best."
Known as the largest apres ski bar in France the "Ronnie" has a fantastic ski-in ski-out sun terrace, great food and the wildest après-ski parties in Meribel. "This has been the most popular après in Meribel for many years. So many stories to be told from this place whilst imbued with their homemade infamous toffee vodka… come the end of the season, spring skiing and the sun is out, you need to get there early to grab your spot or there is no floor space left!"
Cap Horn, Courchevel, France.
Le Cap Horn is located at the altiport, alongside L'Alitbar at 2,100m. The two-story chalet-inspired structure is surrounded in a massive deck with wide-open views of the Courchevel ski areas and French Alps, as well as featuring VIP dining rooms, known as the Yacht Club, which has a nautical theme on account of the owner's summers spent in St Tropez. "The amount of Jeroboams of Champagne that get sprayed exceeds any other bar in the Alps. Civilised lunches turn into a full on party - dancing on tables in ski boots, top DJ’s, celebrities and a lot of booze induced singing, then a ’sober’ ski down before carrying on in Le Mangeoire in the evening."
Le Rouge, Verbier, Switzerland
Le Rouge Restaurant and Club is situated at an altitude of approximately 1560m in the picturesque Swiss mountain resort of Verbier. Famed for its panoramic terraces and featuring resident DJs, frequent celebrity guests and a taste of Ibiza in the snow..."They bring in top DJ’s from across the world. They have the best sleeping bags to keep you warm and a MEGA terrace to party on. It is also at the bottom of the slope in town, so you can party through till late without worrying about broken bones skiing down. Etôile Rouge is their sister club in town with cabaret performers from across Europe to carry on in till the early hours…"
