The restaurant, which also has branches in Dubai, Bangkok, Miami, Abu Dhabi, and other cities around the world, is located in a vast two-level space on Madison Avenue between 38th and 39th Streets.
The restaurant has been designed by Noriyoshi Muramatsu of Studio Glitt, and is intended to capture the glamour of the Zuma brand worldwide, while also embracing elements unique to New York.
As at other Zuma locations, there is both a sushi bar and a robata grill, along with multiple bars for drinking, including a sake bar and the lounge, with its communal table. The main kitchen will serve dishes such as seared beef with truffle dressing, roasted lobster with shizo-ponzu butter, and the restaurant’s famous miso black cod, while the sushi menu will be put together by Katzutoshi Endo, a protege of the famed Tokyo sushi master Jiro On.
A Las Vegas outpost will follow the opening of Zuma New York.
