Rider

James Beard Award-Winning chef, James Connelly, brings sharing plates and industrial chic charm to the National Sawdust in Williamsburg

Rider is the new restaurant from James Beard Award-winning Patrick Connolly. Housed in the National Sawdust performance space, this 65 seat space is pared back and simple, with white-washed exposed brick and naked tiled tables sitting under massive windows spread over two floors in Williamsburg. Balancing the line of industrial and classic, Rider is the perfect place to go before a show, or even as a destination in its own right, filled with laid back Brooklyn charm without pretension or stuffiness. The two floors have very different vibes, so it can really tick a lot of boxes.

The dishes all read very familiarly, but are executed with a level of class and flair that we've come to expect from the former Basso chef. With plates like mackerel crudo, pork schnitzel, and griddled mortadella, the menu is designed to be shared among groups, allowing all diners to equally taste everything. While technically falling into the "Contemporary American" category, Connolly takes inspiration from the global scope, adding bold flavours, diverse textures and plenty of room for the imagination.
