Impero Caffè is the latest addition to the building food scene in Flatiron. Headed up by Ex-Scarpetta New York chef Scott Conany, this all-day Italian restaurant is housed in the new INNSIDE by Meliá hotel, located in a new building on West 27th. Holding 73 seats, this is the TV chefs first New York venture since parting ways with Scarpetta a few years ago, and the menu is filled with classic dishes like Cavatelli with braised duck & black truffe sugo and Tagliatelle withswiss chard, maitake & smoked goat cheese, plus big plates of roasted chicken with polenta, baby carrots, hazelnut & fegato sauce and a whole myriad of small sharing plates.
Besides the main restaurant, Conany is also looking after the lobby lounge complete with a full cocktail program. By day, the lounge area operates as traditional Italian coffee bar with fresh pastries and espresso, plus lighter lunch offerings like salads and sandwiches.
