Agern

From Noma founder Claus Meyer, this is the first bit from the Scandinavian Market in Grand Central.

While the market in Grand Central itself might still be a while out, Claus Meyer, founder of world class restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, finally has his Nordic brasserie ready to roll. Being called "Agern" which is Danish for Acorn, it's a bit of a nod to the Vanderbilt family and their family crest which is visable all thoughout the station.

The food is a combined effort from chefs Gunnar Gíslason (formerly of Dill in Reykjavík, Iceland) and Joseph Yardley (formerly chef de cuisine for Mads Refslund at Acme) and is loaded with dishes like poached cabbage with tarragon, pickled onions and mustard seeds or skate wing with leek, celeriac and apple. In addition to their à la carte menu, there will also be a couple tasting menus available to showcase the best of nordic cuisine.

With 85 seats, this new space is broken up into different areas allowing it to be flexible for many purposes from dates to business meals and more. Their pricing structure is following the trend started by Danny Meyer and is tip inclusive.
