LA Chefs Win Big at James Beard Awards

Los Angeles chefs won multiple categories at this year's James Beard Foundation Awards, which took place at Chicago's Lyric Opera theatre.

Most notably, Suzanne Goin, the chef behind LA institutions Lucques, AOC and Tavern, won the Outstanding Chef award. She is only the fifth woman to win the this award after Alice Waters (1992), Lidia Bastianich (2002), Judy Rodgers (2004) and fellow LA chef Nancy Silverton (2014).

Meanwhile Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo won Best Chef: West. The duo run celebrated LA restaurants Animal, Son of a Gun and Jon & Vinny’s, as well as Trois Mec, Petit Trois and Trois Familia in collaboration with Ludo Lefebvre.

Finally Dahlia, pastry chef at Mozza, was finally named Outstanding Pastry Chef, having been nominated for this award multiple years in a row.
