Barbuto

After a career of stunning food, chef Jonathan Waxman's classic Californian inspired Italian spot makes a welcome return to the West Village.

Barbuto is the longstanding NYC foothold of veterin chef Jonathan Waxman who singlehandedly brought California cuisine to the east coast after time spent at Alice Waters’ Chez Panisse in Berkeley and classic LA spot Michael's back in the early '80s.

Previously nominated for a James Beard Award, Barbuto - meaning "beard" in Italian - had become one of those quintessential New York restaurants where models rub elbows with tourists and neighborhood regulars. This new outing is just blocks from the previous location - occupying a watertftont location along the Hudson river and there's an outdoor terrace.

Expect a hyper-seasonal California-ish menu changing everyday to get the freshest produce available to build an Italian styled menu filled with antipasti, fresh pasta, wood-fired meats and glorious greens, bursting with flavour. As much a place to be seen as it is a place to relax and just tuck in, it's an absolute must for all occations.

Ideal For

Long summer nights while dreaming of the west coast.
