High Spirited

Discover our handpicked selection of London's best 'spirited bars' serving signature serves and pours based around a key spirit...

Gin

The copper-topped Gin Bar at Holborn Dining Room offers London’s largest collection of Gin - featuring over 400 Gins and 27 tonics, including their very own signature tonic, made in-house using a top secret recipe. Gin lovers can savour over 14,035 possible Gin and tonic pairings from well-known international brands to small-batch and local distillers to choose from. The bar menu includes new Gin cocktails and much-loved classics, as well as a selection of spirits, fine wines and craft beers. Why not order yours from the courtyard terrace, which has been transformed by award winning, landscape designer Luciano Giubbilei, an idyllic setting to savour unique food and drink offerings reflecting the flavours and ingredients of each British season in a luxurious garden setting.

Rum

Named World's Best Bar for four consecutive years, Artesian is the award winning cocktail bar in The Langham hotel. This remarkable bar and (opulent) lounge is named after the 360ft-deep artesian well under the hotel and specialises in exclusive rum creations showcasing the city's largest collection of rums alongside an inventive menu of showstopping cocktails and unique and exciting blends. The Artesian Bar is the perfect confluence of good looks and good taste and a must visit.

Tequila

Taking its name from the mixed-race descendants of the conquistadores, Mestizo (off Regent's Park) offers a 'fusion' of Mexican and Spanish flavours serving up a selection of authentic street food and traditional regional specialities  - alongside a myriad of Tequilas and Tequila-based cocktails. Owned and operated by Mexicans, there is a fine selection of over 200 different types available – almost certainly the most comprehensive selection in town - and sourced from a variety of regions in Mexico. Holy Mole!

Whisky

Boisdale of Canary Wharf (London's premier Scottish restaurant) is arguably the greatest whisky bar on earth. With over 1,000 carefully selected whiskies on its list, Boisdale serves its customers nearly 49,000 glasses of fine malt whisky a year. This extraordinary selection of malt whisky is complemented by a wide range of single grain, premium blended, Irish and American whiskies and (more recently) Japanese, Indian and Welsh whisky. Recently named “Whisky Restaurant Of The Year” the London embassy of Highland hospitality also impressed the judges with its "staff who exude passion for the good stuff”. Discover this lively restaurant and music venue serving modern British food, which also houses a cigar library and terrace overlooking the city skyline.

Vodka

South Bank restaurant, Baltic, from Jan Woroniecki (of South Kensington’s Ognisko) was recently (and stunningly) refurbished with vodka at the forefront of the new bar. The dinning room (beyond the bar) specialises in the cuisines of Eastern and Central Europe, from the soups, pickled fish and dumplings of Poland and Russia, to the hearty and spiced stews of Hungary through to the aromatic grills and light braises of Georgia and central Asia. They also serve over 70 varieties of vodka all served straight from the deep freeze in frozen glasses. Discover their own flavoured vodkas, which are all made using fresh fruit and spices and are left to mature in large glass flagons.
