Bull & Barrel

An intimate bar hidden inside Alexander's Steakhouse in Pasadena, Bull & Barrel offers a cocktail list and outdoor patio worth seeking out.

Comprising its own space with an enclosed patio lined with trellises and centered by a fire pit, the bar gives you access to a special menu not available in the main restaurant. Highlights include items like the Wagyu burger, hamachi lumpia and imperial Wagyu pastrami.

Bar manager Erik Lund, who previously worked at LA institutions including Rivera, MessHall and Republique, has created an extensive spirits and cocktail list that is whiskey forward with selections from the US, Scotland, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, India, France to perfectly pair with the meaty options on the menu.

And throughout summer, Bull & Barrel will play host to special events, including a Sunday raw bar and special grilled items.

The Wagyu burger, which comes topped with Camembert and American cheeses, marrow mayo and onion sprouts; edamame with warm truffle butter, lemon and chili soy; shishito peppers with aged lemon miso; oysters with aji amarillo ice; hamachi shots with dashi, avocado, Fresno chilies and ponzu; Wagyu gyoza and a Wagyu pastrami sandwich.

Signature Drinks

The Fifty Dollar Rob Roy, which is $50 because it's made with 25-year Highland Park single malt, "super expensive vermouth," the 100-point Pedro Ximenez solera sherry and gold.
