Tapestry

Ex - Davi chef Suvir Saran is back in NYC with his first new project in four years, blending together the bold flavours of India with his favourite foods from around the world.

Tapestry celebrates the return to New York from Michelin Starred chef Suvir Saran, who gained acclaim while at the help of the much loved Davi as well as a stint on Top Chef Masters. Known for his unique take on his native Indian cuisine, combines with influences from around the world, this is his first time back in a kitchen in 4 years.

This new venture is filled with some familiar flavors from the chef, but there are plenty of new things going on as well. Citing influences from Mexico, Portugal, France, Italy and more, Saran looked to take the best bits from his favorite foods and highlight the comfort element of flavour. Their Masala Fried Chicken, for example, is familiar, yet foreign all at once served with peanut slaw, "Grandma Mae's biscuits", and aloo bharta. The ingredients used are top notch as well, many coming from local farms, including Saran's own upstate farm with eggs, veggies, and soon pork.

The dining room is simple and elegant, echoing the ethos of the whole place and allowing the main focus to be on the flavors. This could very well change the game for Indian cuisine in New York and trust us - it's awesome.
