The dream team duo of Michelin Starred Chef April Bloomfield and James Beard Awards winner Ken Friedman are back, this time on the Upper West Side with a meat-tastic venture. They've pulled in a few friends - butchers Jocelyn Guest and Erika Nakamura - to open a butcher shop and new school steakhouse which focuses on using the whole animal which they break down in house to create delicious meals and wholesome cuts for you to cook at home.
The restaurant covers your needs from Breakfast to dinner with dishes like house-made sausages and eggs on to lunch with with their much discussed "chopped cheese" - a cheeseburger-cheesesteak lovechild - through to dinner with where you may want to check out their whole rotisserie chicken with green sauce.
The space itself is somewhere between an old-school, upscale diner infused with elements of a school house. Be sure to check out the wooden chairs and try not to have primary school flashbacks.
British-born chef April Bloomfield, is known best for her meat-forward restaurant The Spotted Pig over in the West Village, but also has been doing mouthwatering things at The Breslin Bar & Dining Room, Salvation Burger, Salvation Taco, and more across the country. She also was the winner of the highest score in history on Iron Chef America. Her partner on this on this one, Ken Friedman, made his name up in Boston but in NYC we love him for his work over at the Park South Hotel including Corvina and The Roof.
