This new home-grown brand from Emaar Hospitality Group may be at the budget end of the hospitality spectrum, but it has enough personality to make it worth checking out just for its funky design and art. Designed for independent millennial travellers, the modern yet culturally-entrenched hotel brings its tagline, 'Exploring beyond borders', to life with high-speed wifi access throughout, easy accessibility, and a fuss-free approach to service - there's a self-service laundromat, 24-hour gym, free-to-use lockers, self-check-in stations, and an on-site supermarket. Oh, and there's no valet parking either!
Art is an intrinsic part of the brand, with Instagram-worthy murals, graffiti, installations and more injecting a unique character into the space. Curated by Capsule Arts, the work of local artists is showcased throughout, from the lobby with its 'Wall of curiosities' - a collection of artefacts representing Dubai - to the interactive stencilled murals (you can take a selfie by placing yourself in the artwork) in the guest room corridors. Touches such as a traditional Arabesque pattern worked into the room furnishings incorporate a nod to the local culture in the otherwise clean, contemporary design.
The Daily, the hotel's main restaurant offers, as the name suggests, freshly prepared, healthy deli-style food from creative executive chef Spencer Lee Black.
The 14-floor hotel has 420 rooms, plenty of (digitally-enabled, naturally) meeting and networking spaces, and an open-air pool boasting Burj Khalifa views.
