Paowalla

Master Chef winner, acclaimed writer and designer, Chef Floyd Cardoz first solo restaurant is full of vibrant flavours and colours, ready to transport U to another place.

Some may remember Chef Floyd Cardoz from his days leading the brigade at Danny Meyer's Tabla a while back, but this time around he's flying solo with his own project in Soho. Inspired by the flavours of his youth, the menu is dominated by the massive wood-burning oven that was specially brought in to make sure those Naan breads were just right and perfect for getting busy with the chutneys, plus a whole slew of small plates so you can really get a taste of everything.

The Master Chef winner and cookbook author has really embraced his native Mumbai cuisine but with small modernizations, bringing the flavors of home to NYC. Dishes as bright visually as they are on the palate, expect flavors like Shishito pakoras with peanuts and cilantro, Bombaywadapao, and The Gulabb nut: a doughnut soaked in all the flavours of the classic Indian dessert.

The building, both inside and out, are a bright cheery yellow, reflecting the spirit of Goa with leather benches, lime-washed exposed bricks, and high ceilings. Sitting on a corner, there are plenty of windows allowing lots of natural light to stream in, high-lighting the small details of this 72-person restaurant.
