How do you start your day?
Long stretch, 30 minute meditation followed by a light, healthy, breakfast. Afterwards, on my commute to the office, I usually make a list of deliverables for my day or catch up on some reading and emails.
Leisurely lunch go to?
I love discovering new places to eat. I'll always try to check out a new restaurant that I've heard about or visit the various food markets across London, whenever possible. Many times the markets are the most innovative and inspirational.
Favourite way to pass the time in London?
Just walking around. London is an extremely diverse city both culturally and architecturally. I love reading up on the history of buildings that catch my attention (remember to look up!), it's a great way to understand the context in which it was created and the part it plays in the fabric of the city.
Favourite London landmark, and why?
This is a tough one, with so many to chose from. The Victorian railway stations and hotels are of particular fascination however. The St. Pancras Grand Hotel is a magnificent building with a wonderfully colourful history, having battled time, decay, abandon and the wrecking-ball of developers throughout its life it now stands defiant at the gates of the train that connects us to Europe. It's a fantastically romantic landmark.
Tipple of choice and favourite cocktail hangout?
I like places with a classic feel; Little House in Mayfair is a great place for a relaxed dry vodka martini with friends. Alternatively, exploring the range of barrel-aged negronis at Polpo or sampling the spicy margaritas at Peyote or Flesh and Buns is always a fun, albeit dangerous, endeavour.
Favourite dining destination, and why?
London's restaurant scene is heaving, so there's always a new place to try out (check out not-so-new-kids on the block 'Foyles' or 'Park Chinoise'), but there's something to be said for the classics like China Tang which always deliver a great well-rounded experience.
Final stop for a nightcap, and why?
Chiltern Firehouse's Ladder Shed Bar. The bar, like the hotel, is perfectly and beautifully designed and has exceptional service. There's nothing like hiding in the corner couch and watching the room ebb and flow whilst drinking an Azteca (a spicy margarita - with a secret twist - created by the ever creative Charlotte Carroll).
Best hangover remedy?
Drink an enormous amount of water and venture over for a session at the South Kensington Club's spa. There's no hangover that can battle the combined power of the Watsu pool, Russian Banya and Hammam.
Where next on your travels?
Next stops NYC, Florence, Istanbul, Bogota, and LA, followed by a little tour of South Africa and the Dutch Antilles and maybe a few other adventures. However, I'm dying to do a long stint of voyaging throughout the globe...
